Our medical writers have been responsible for the development of the scientific content for the ESMO Pocket Guidelines since 2012. Collaborating with ESMO’s Scientific projects and publishing team, we plan content and update the Pocket Guidelines each year, alongside the design and production each year.
Our medical writers begin the process by liaising with ESMO’s Scientific Projects and Publishing team to plan which Pocket Guidelines will be produced based on the updates to the European Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
Once the CPGs have been submitted to Annals of Oncology, the manuscript is then used to form the basis of each Pocket Guideline and an initial draft is produced for review by ESMO and the Subject Editors.
As we have continued to evolve the design of the ESMO Pocket Guidelines, we have adopted 3D Visualisation techniques to provide a more impactful and versatile design solution. Each suite is given a distinct visual identity that is consistent with ESMO brand guidelines, which is brought to life through carefully considered colour combinations and designs.
In recent years an App was created, allowing delegates to download electronic versions of the guides. Allowing for the content to be easily digested on devices, our 3D team developed an interactive element that added new dimensions to the designs, bringing to life shapes and colours through technology.
